RCIA - Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults

What does it mean to be a Roman Catholic?
What's the difference between being Catholic Christian and a Christian from other denominations?

Why are people Christian at all?

These are just some of the questions that people who are a part of the RCIA come with. The Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults provides the space and opportunity where people can explore the Catholic faith without any pressure or obligations to become Catholic.  For many this journey does lead them to want to seek full membership in our Church.

As Catholic Christians we believe that God has a unique and personal relationship with every human being.  Learning who you are and whose you are the most important questions each person needs to answer in life.  We are here to help you to discover the love that has been revealed to us in Jesus Christ and in the Catholic Church that He established.

Who is the RCIA for?

The RCIA is for any unbaptized adult who is new to the Catholic faith.

The RCIA is also for any adult who was baptized in another Christian tradition.

The RCIA process also welcomes baptized Catholic adults seeking to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation.

What happens in the RCIA?

This isn't a "conversion class."  It's a process of questioning, prayer, sharing and learning.  We invite people who are curious about their faith and their beliefs to explore those questions and to see how God is speaking to you through those questions.

We believe the Catholic Church has answers to those questions... but there are no commitments, and coming to inquire doesn’t mean you have to join.

If you would like to explore joining the Church, then the RCIA invites you to take a more formal step to enter into the process, as a catechumen (for those not baptized), or a candidate (for those entering the Catholic Church or completing their Sacraments of Initiation )  We will do our best to help you learn about our faith and way of life.

Finally, for those who are called to full membership in the Church, the Sacraments of Initiation (Baptism, Confirmation and Eucharist) are celebrated in the Easter Season
